The public health system and the place of autism

ABSTRACT Purpose: to characterize the population with autism spectrum disorder and Psychosocial Care Network. Methods: a study conducted patients presented up 18 years old treated at health network in Taboão da Serra, Brazil. Participants’ data were collected from medical records of Network for Children that city, authorized by Municipal Department Health, quantitatively analyzed. Results: altogether, there 237 said April 2019. Of these, 188 Children, 110 them weekly therapy. There was predominance males (73.63%), age range 3 10 years, higher percentage 5-year (17.27%) patients, mean treatment time 32 months. The youngest 2 old. Half sample (50%) had therapy received homeopathic medication; 24 users (21.81%) referred speech-language-hearing therapists 19 (17.27%), school they attended. Final Considerations: although is reference region, it known this facility alone cannot meet all needs individuals disorder. A service coordinated according patient’s individual region's reality would ensure their expected rights, decrease public spending, enable these occupy not only one but many places society.
